Many ages ago, before even the Apocalypse and the Silence of the Gods, there was a battle in the Outlands between the celestial angels of the great and noble forces of Good and the vile and corrupt celestials of the dread forces of Good. Specifically, it was a war between virtue ethicists and consequentialists, both from Bytopia, taking the long way around the Outlands to meet because things were awkward, and duking it out in the southeasterly side. During this fight, a trio of angels from both factions as well as a forgotten third made a heroic sacrifice on that spot to prevent the whole region from sliding into the Abyss; Their bodies were sealed up to their waists in the earth, and all three screamed with eternal torment as they held that earth together.

At some later point in history, a collection of celestials of various origins built a grand structure on this spot. At its core are three enormous crystalline organ pipes, built around the trapped angels, rough in appearance and towering hundreds of meters into the sky. These convert the screams of torment into a low, soft, harmonious choir, which now drifts down from the sky. Around this is built a great temple, run by three holy orders associated with the founding the town of Threesong. The Church of the Neighborly Smile is supposed to be a true surviving founding order, while the Way of The True Apocalypse and the Trust in Hell appeared after the Apocalypse, though still tens of thousands of years prior to the present.
