EVIL GERMS and GOOD GERMS were once spread throughout the universe: microscopic angels which fed on energy released by death, and microscopic fiends which ate them. They used to act at the behest of the gods and fill normal material people with "holy" or "unholy" energy if one or the other type dominated their host, resulting in the host being susceptible to abilities which target according to "Good" and "Evil," but since the Apocalypse, they have lost much of their energy and receded back into the Outer Planes of the Wheel, where they still infuse Good and Evil Outsiders. Iosefka carries Evil Germs, still quickened from the old way of things.
These germs also produce chocolate and vanilla as a waste product in environments infused with essences derived from sins and virtues. See Acheron.
The reality of good and evil in the true ethical sense is still a philosophical debate. You learned literally nothing about mortal passions here.
